Warm Butter

I started this quilt in 2019, originally setting out to learn pojagi style quilting using cream scraps of linen and cotton. As I made more sections, I grabbed whatever I could find in my home studio (corduroy, shearling, home decor fabrics, old curtains, etc) and added those in as well. Due to the increased variance in thickness, half is pojagi and half was flat-felled.

When the pandemic started, I picked it up again and found a meditative rhythm in piecing together small sections, mindlessly. In 2021, I started playing with larger blocks, realizing I wanted more texture. In 2022, I finished assembling it, backed it with a cream wool blanket and hand-tied it together.

In January, this quilt was machine and hand-bound. It kicks off a year of quiltmaking ahead in 2023! Measures 55” x 61”
